Yes, another heatwave day but I got round to doing some chores in the morning. The rest of the day has been spent drinking iced tea and reading.
I watched two Audrey Hepburn movies last week.
Paris When It Sizzles (1964)
What a boring movie! If it wasn't for Audrey Hepburn I would never have watched all of it. Anyway, I broke it down in chunks and saw the whole thing in a total of three days. There were some good lines but all in all it was not interesting.
At least Audrey rewarded us with some of her usual elegance:
I absolutely LOVED the mixture of mystery, romance and comedy. Despite
their age difference, Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn were fantastic
together! Such an intelligent script and great lines!

The last snapshot is my favorite! It could easily become my desktop background!!
And then I watched Charade (1963). The plot was so compelling it overcompensated for the boredom the previous one had caused me.
Have you watched any movies recently?
And how was your Sunday?
Enjoy the new week! ;)
YES. My thoughts exactly. Paris When It Sizzles -- such a pretty title but such a boring film. Charade is a very good one, a true enjoyable classic.
ReplyDeleteThis week I watched National Velvet with very young Liz Taylor and I quite enjoyed this film for its great mood and a very strong female protagonist. Another feature was Ip Man. Although it's a martial arts film that I normally don't watch at all, I was quite impressed.
Oh there are so many movies out there waiting to be watched... Sometimes thinking about it stresses me out!
DeleteI adore Audrey! My all time faves are Roman Holiday, Sabrina and of course Breakfast at Tiffanys!
ReplyDeleteVictoria xx
Yes, I really like these three as well as Two for The Road! ;)
DeleteNun, da hast vDu einen schönen Tag verlebt. Ich selbst war ein wenig spazieren und habe Fotos gemacht, heute ging es mit userem Wetter, wenig Regen...:-)
ReplyDeleteLieben Gruß
CL
I hope you'll get some sunshine and that we'll see your photos soon! ;)
DeleteSome of my very favorites.....Cary and Audrey.....love love love!
ReplyDeleteThey're amazing!
DeleteMy Sunday was and is still full of washing clothes and ironing and packing. Wish I would have time to sit down and watch a movie with you my friend!
ReplyDeleteI hope you will have a relaxing evening and get all the rest you need!
DeleteHi my dear friend, Well my sunday was nice. I and my daughter went to movie Ice Age +. It was nice.. I like Audrey Hepburn so much. She seems so pretty and so fragile.. And I must say that I like your table cloth so much in the first picture..:))
ReplyDeleteI wish you happy week...:))
Hugs..:))
Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorites too!
DeleteThe tablecloth is my mum's; I used it to cover an old wooden chest that needs painting.
Have a happy, bearably hot week, too! ;)
Not even sure if I've seen either one of those movies ever. My memory is not so good when it comes to that kid of stuff. I can't even remember the last movie I saw or the last book I read completely. I started The Help months ago and what I read was great, but just never continued with it as I started it when we traveled and then when the trip was over, that was that. Thanks for your visits. Hope you have a great new week. Tammy
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Tammy! ;)
DeleteOh my heatwave??? over here it's cold and rainy I'm really missing the summer :( have a nice new week

The weather is crazy! Well, if it continues like this, I 'll start to miss winter!
DeleteHave a nice week too! ;)
Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn what a great combination. I love these old films they are the best :)
ReplyDeleteReading and drinking iced tea sounds like the best kind of Sunday to have.
It was nice! Hope you had a good day too!
DeleteEnjoy the new week! ;)
Your weekend sounded hot!...I love movie weekends, we watched two fairly new films; Chronicle, which turned out to be a kids film but I loved it and Martha Marcy May Marlene which was AWESOME, very dark and disturbing and starring an Olsen sister that I never knew about...watch it if you can xx
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely look them up! Especially the second sounds very interesting!
DeleteEnjoy your week Emma!

DeleteHello, I've been missing from the Blog world lately, but enjoyed your reviews on the movies. I haven't seen either one of these, and I think the later will definitely be on my list of movies to watch with my daughters. My oldest daughter Jenny has always loved Audrey Hepburn.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week. xo
Well, I hope you'll be back soon! It's a really good film so I think you'll have fun if you watch it. Thanks for taking the time to visit! ;)
DeleteIsn't Audrey totally gorgeous! I must watch Charade again-thanks for reminding me about how wonderful it is!

I love old movies but haven't watched any lately. You got the right idea though when it gets to hot to enjoy the outdoors.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, the temperature here has dropped a bit today, but it's still too hot for anything that requires too much physical effort. Ah well, let's enjoy summer! ;)
