RYC: well ideally English words are adopted from ancient Greek (through Latin, etc.). Not with modern adoptions like "parataxis", I grant you. But the English dictionaries will still give the etymologies in katharevousa because native English speakers are more likely to know ancient Greek than modern Greek.
