  4. I was thinking the other day about stuff we want as children. When we went out for a meal (which was hardly ever), I always wanted a banana split (and was usually denied). I also always wanted a remote controlled car - something I never got in my entire childhood and something I've never had in my entire life. Now, as an adult, I could buy a banana split or a remote controlled car whenever I want. But I don't. Why? Hmm.

Oh, your picture has made me fancy a banana split, by the way.

    1. I guess even if you bought a remote controlled car you would get bored in half an hour. The banana split is probably very high in calories so subconsciously you know what's right.

As fas as toys went, I always wanted Barbie dolls and of course Barbie's house. I never got them because my parents objected to everything that a Barbie doll stood for. Another thing they never bought me was a portable Tetris. In both cases I quenched my "thirst" when I was with friends.
Now, you won't see me buying a Barbie doll anytime soon but there is a Tetris app on my iPad. :)

As for the banana split, it wasn't an option in Greek restaurants (it still isn't) where dessert is usually complimentary and it consists of fresh fruit or a tradiional Greek sweet pie or something. I wanted to try it because I kept seeing it in movies! (typical Evi)

Enjoy the long weekend! It's a holiday tomorrow over there right?

    2. Greece sounds a lot healthier than North America...

On the child toy front, I always wanted a pretend kitchen, and also never got one. Now, as an adult, I have a real kitchen. I definitely idealized the joys of it as a child... oh the awakening realizations of adulthood haha!

    3. I didn't have a kitchen but I remember toy-sets of cutlery, food, saucepans etc.. I had a friend with whom we met every weekend and played. Why was pretending to cook elaborate meals so exciting? Now, cooking is boring (most of the times).
