Santa Barbara via Malibu

On Tuesday afternoon, we rented a car, said goodbye to San Diego and began our road trip.

Our first destination was Santa Barbara and we decided to take Highway 1 for part of the journey.

Getting closer...

There was a traffic jam when we were driving through Santa Monica and I couldn't help but stare look at the drivers of the cars next to us. (Unfortunately, I didn't spot Leonardo or any other celebrities for that matter!)

We made a brief stop to take in the beauty of Zuma beach in Malibu.

And back on the road...

On Wednesday morning, we walked around Santa Barbara, which is a beautiful town. (Does anyone remember the soap opera? Click here!)

We ended up spending a couple more hours in SB, because an exclamation point kept popping up on the dashboard of our rental car. After some googling, we were afraid that there was something wrong with the brakes, so we took it to the rental company and asked for an exchange. But that same morning a cruise ship had docked at SB and all the cars had been rented apart from a very small Fiat that didn't even have 4 doors. It turned out the pressure in the tires was low, so we went to a gas station and fixed the problem. Have I told you that in the US you have to pay 25 cents to buy air for your tires?

  10. Evi,
Santa Barbara is such a lovely place. My mom lived there when she was younger. I enjoyed looking at your pictures, and I remember all the palm trees surrounding the area. I stopped at the Santa Barbara Mission when I was last there. Your road trip must be a blast. Have fun and be safe.

    Happy Easter, my friend.

    love,
    ~Sheri
